Typical cases of marine ecological protection and restoration in 2024 released

On November 7, at the 2024 East Asian Sea Conference and Xiamen International Ocean Week “China-ASEAN Marine Ecosystem Protection and Restoration” seminar, the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Department of Land and Space Ecological Restoration released typical cases of marine ecological protection and restoration in 2024, and Taizhou City (Yuhuan) Marine Ecological Protection and Restoration Case was successfully selected.

It is reported that the project plans to invest 510 million yuan, of which 300 million yuan will be central government subsidies. The project will renovate and restore 4.4 hectares of Xiaqingtang salt marsh and 44.28 hectares of mangroves in Yueqing Bay.

Yuhuan Marine Ecological Restoration is a microcosm of Taizhou’s marine ecological restoration work. In recent years, Taizhou City has taken the national and provincial “Blue Bay” construction as an opportunity to further promote the prevention and control of pollution sources in coastal waters, carry out ecological transformation of seawalls, and improve the level of sharing of results.

This year, Sanmen County’s national “Blue Bay” remediation action project was successfully selected as a national marine ecological protection and restoration project in 2025, and it is expected to receive 300 million yuan in central fiscal funds. At the same time, the “Blue Bay” projects of Wenling City and Yuhuan City were successfully selected as provincial-level “Blue Bay” remediation action projects from 2025 to 2026.

So far, Taizhou City has successfully been selected for 3 national-level “Blue Bay” projects and 5 provincial-level projects, striving for a central government subsidy of 900 million yuan; it has been selected as the first batch of provincial-level “mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasses and seas” integrated protection and restoration projects, striving for a provincial-level financial subsidy of 110 million yuan.
