Jinhua’s exports to BRICS countries rank first in the province

Recently, Jinhua Meidenyuan Cosmetics Co., Ltd. sent a batch of nail polish worth more than 40,000 US dollars to the United Arab Emirates. From January to September, the company only exported US$1.677 million to BRICS countries, a year-on-year increase of 187.1%. The person in charge of the company said frankly that he had “tasted the dividends of BRICS trade.” As economic cooperation among the BRICS countries becomes increasingly close, our city’s enterprises continue to expand into emerging markets, and the vitality of foreign trade entities has increased significantly. Many foreign trade companies like Midian Garden that have import and export trade with the BRICS countries have achieved positive growth.

A total of 7,628 companies in our city have trade relations with BRICS countries, accounting for more than 40% of the city’s total import and export companies. This year, exports to India, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates accounted for 60.1% of the city’s total export value; imports from Russia, South Africa, and India accounted for 79.8% of the total value. In the trade between our city and BRICS countries, the “export escort” of government departments has effectively reduced customs clearance costs and stimulated the vitality of market entities.

At Zhejiang Zhouli Industrial Co., Ltd., workers drove forklifts to load boxes of packed household snowplows into cabinets and send them to Russia. It is currently the company’s peak production season, with an average monthly production of 20,000 snowplows, and 10 to 15 units shipped every day. “We have expanded from traditional gasoline-powered products to lithium-ion new energy snowplows. Russia has become our main market, and exports to Russia account for more than 50% of the company.” Zhang Lei, deputy general manager of the company, said. Since lithium battery products are dangerous goods, in order to help companies export quickly and safely, Jinhua Customs conducts door-to-door inspections and performs packaging use appraisals for export dangerous goods. The company also has four new lithium battery products that are being developed and verified. In the next few years, lithium battery products will become the flagship product exported to Russia.

In response to the mutual recognition of AEOs between five BRICS countries and China Customs, Jinhua Customs established a team of experts to tailor a cultivation plan for enterprises. In early September, Zhejiang Haoda Technology Co., Ltd. passed the AEO advanced certification from the customs. “During our application for AEO certification, the customs arranged for dedicated personnel to explain the certification standards item by item based on the characteristics of the company, put forward suggestions for improvement, and organized a simulated audit to check our stainless steel vacuum insulated vessels for export to South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and other countries. The customs clearance convenience has been of great help,” said Xie Ronghao, the company’s foreign trade manager.

As one of the most distinctive and advantageous traditional export industries in our city, the textile and garment industry has ushered in the “golden opportunity” after the expansion of the BRICS cooperation mechanism through the digital and intelligent modern industrial chain. Russia is the main export destination for Pujiang’s foreign trade, accounting for about 10% of the county’s total exports, with clothing and shoes being the most involved. Last year, the Pujiang economic and trade delegation went to Russia to grab orders and expand the market. Pujiang and Zhejiang International Studies University jointly built the province’s first county-level cross-border e-commerce research institute to capture the huge consumer groups in BRICS countries.

According to Jinhua Customs statistics, in the first three quarters of this year, Jinhua’s imports and exports to other BRICS countries were 115.46 billion yuan, an increase of 8.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 16.5% of the province’s total foreign trade with BRICS. Among them, exports were 105.55 billion yuan, an increase of 11.2%, 6.2 percentage points higher than the province’s growth rate to the BRICS in the same period, accounting for 22.9% of the province’s exports to the BRICS, ranking first in the province; imports were 9.91 billion yuan, accounting for Jinhua’s total imports 12.8% of the value.
