This newspaper reported that yesterday, the 2024 China Shaoxing Folk Sacrifice to Dayu Ceremony and the Hundred-person Roundtable Meeting of the Dayu Cultural Week Series of Activities was held in Yuecheng. As the first event of this Dayu Cultural Week, the Hundred-person Roundtable Meeting aims to build a platform for cultural and economic exchanges by taking advantage of the opportunity of the annual folk sacrifice to Dayu. More than 100 representatives from all over the country attended the meeting.
At present, cultural consumption has shown a strong momentum of growth against the trend and has become an important force in promoting economic and social development. From the construction of a city of museums to the integration of culture, commerce and tourism based on celebrity culture and opera culture, Shaoxing and Yuecheng have made steady progress on the road of building a demonstration site for humanistic economics with their rich historical and cultural heritage. So, how can we make further progress in the development of cultural industries?
“Economic transformation and upgrading rely on technology and culture. Shaoxing’s cultural resources need to be further transformed into capital resources and development resources.” At the roundtable, Hu Jian, former executive deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and president of the Zhejiang Qiantang River Cultural Research Association, said that Shaoxing has gathered “eight major resources” in the cultural field, including ecological landscapes, historical materials, and intangible cultural heritage. It is necessary to do a good job in surveying and screening these cultural resources and classify them for utilization. “Some are protected, some are developed and utilized, and some are industrialized. We need to do a good job in refining cultural symbols and transform them into the economy through creative design.”
“Shaoxing’s cultural industry needs to be developed. Now is a good time. We must maintain this market and make good use of private forces.” He Junjie, president of the Shaoxing Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association, believes that the momentum of private cultural industry is sufficient, whether it is capital, manpower, material resources or financial resources, but what is lacking is guidance and favorable policies. “Activities like the folk sacrifice to Dayu can attract the attention of the whole nation. If they are carried out on a regular basis and promoted together with the public sacrifice as two levels of inheriting Dayu’s spirit, they can give more care to the cultural power of the people.”
The 100-person roundtable also provided a platform for cultural and economic exchanges for participating enterprises, individuals and regional market entities. At the meeting, the Zhejiang Dayu Cultural Development Foundation signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with many units, aiming to contribute to the prosperity of the local economy and culture through in-depth cooperation.
