The 2024 GS1 Standard Service Provider and GM2D Application Promotion Conference was held in Deqing recently, with more than 150 representatives from across the country participating. The conference aims to popularize GS1 standard knowledge for solution service providers, promote service providers to understand, support and apply the GS1 standard system, improve the ability to serve commodity barcode users, open up the “last mile” of coding application, and better promote GM2D application.
It is reported that GM2D was initiated by the International Article Coding Organization to promote the conversion of global commodity coding from one-dimensional barcodes to two-dimensional codes by 2027, lead various fields to fully realize the functions of commodity two-dimensional code reading and analysis, achieve data information interconnection between industries, and provide consumers and enterprises with better and more comprehensive services. In 2022, Zhejiang will take the lead in building a GM2D demonstration zone, and Deqing will become one of the first pilot counties in the province.
“Since the launch of the pilot, Deqing has planned from a high starting point, promoted with high standards, and deepened with high quality. It selected the dairy products and piano industries to tackle the ‘one item, one code’. At the same time, it participated in the formulation of two provincial local standards and received high recognition from the International Article Coding Organization.” Deqing County Market Supervision Bureau introduced that as of now, the county has promoted the main body coding and transcoding of 137 food production enterprises, and has completed the coding and transcoding of 1,679 varieties, with a coverage rate of 100%. Among them, 21 food industries such as dairy products and edible oils have a 100% physical coding and transcoding rate in their products.
